James O'Connor Brand Ambassador One Water Australia

James O’Connor supports One Water Australia

In 2010, James decided to become a celebrity ambassador for One Water Australia. When asked about how he came to be our very latest ambassador James said:

“When I heard about the work that One Water is doing, I was very excited to get involved and see firsthand the impact that this was having around the world.

Having grown up in Australia, it is easy to take clean running water for granted, however, being fortunate enough to travel the world playing rugby, I have seen that not everyone is as lucky as we are in Australia”.

Thank you James for your support and your commitment to One Water. We’re delighted to have you as part of the ONE family.

More about James

James is one of Australian Rugby Unions most exciting young talents. At only 18 he became the second youngest team member to play for the Qantas Wallabies.

He also became the first Australian player (and youngest ever) to score three tries in his first run on start (against Italy in June 2009).

In October 2009 he was named 2009 Rookie of the Year at the John Eales Medal awards night and followed this up in 2010 by becoming the equal top try-scorer in the Tri Nations series.

2011 success for James O’Connor

2011 was a superb year for James, culminating in a fantastic performance at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

James played in six matches and scored 52 points during the campaign, making him the second highest scorer of the tournament, ahead of Ireland’s Ronan O’Gara and the All Black’s Piri Weepu.

In the matches in the UK after the World CUp, James moved to five-eighths in the absence of an injured Quade Cooper, and has shown himself to be up to the challenge of making great decisions in the course of play.

A shout out to Adrian Kenny – winner of One Water Competition. James was gutted training was cancelled so he couldn’t come visit Riverview College.
