The One Foundation Australia is an Australian water charity. We always try to fund projects where they are really needed the most. For our water projects, funded by sales of One Water and direct donations, we provide a range of sustainable water projects, using technologies that are appropriate to the communities they serve and can be easily maintained.
Now, instead of walking for hours to collect water, children can go to school and entire communities benefit from access to fresh drinking water.
Excess water can be used to irrigate vegetable gardens, giving communities the opportunity to grow and sell their own crops. Illness is reduced through providing water filters and by educating people to ensure they only drink clean, safe water.
Up until 2011, sales of One Water in Australia funded PlayPumps in Africa, along with UK sales. From those sales, we funded a number of PlayPumps in Lesotho, and Malawi.

Thanks to the sale of One Water at Woolworths Australia, over 900 children at Makanjira Primary School in Malawi now have a PlayPump water system, providing them with a sustainable supply of fresh, clean water improving health, hygiene and providing much needed irrigation.

Funding projects closer to home
In 2012, we have begun to fund water projects closer to home – starting in Cambodia, Asia.
In Cambodia there often isn’t access to clean water in rural areas. When the supply of water doesn’t work properly, people drink water which isn’t clean or safe.
Drinking dirty water is a major cause of disease, which forces people to waste scarce money on medical treatment. And people spend time dealing with water collection and sickness meaning they can’t work or get an education.
We help in villages where water sources are not easy to access, or are not maintained because of cost.
We’re working with a partner to build clean water systems and provide water filters and hygiene promotion in rural communities in Takeo and Kratie provinces in Cambodia. Check back throughout the year as we fund more work for details about the project.
